Canopy Hardware Installation

TA Travel Center of America Architectural Canopies

In recent years ArchiFab USA has successfully completed a variety of distinctive projects. We recently completed 2 distinct architectural canopies on a TA Travel Center of America in Ash Fork, Arizona.

One canopy spanned 99’ across the entrance of the building then continued along the right side of the building for 30 more feet. This canopy had 3 separate colors all on one canopy, including two different shades of red. The second canopy was only 8’ 8” wide but this canopy has a custom 16” face that made the canopy pop.

Once we finally found the GC awarded us the architectural canopies, we got to work instantly.

We got in touch with our supplier and let them know when need Engineering and stamped calculations as soon as possible.

The 3 different colors on one canopy was a little tricky during the submittal process but we got it ironed out and were able to get our custom canopies fabricated.

In the end it was worth it, all 3 restaurants got their custom color on the canopy to differentiate themselves.

Installation of Canopy Hardware

We noticed if we did not install all our canopy and tieback hardware before the walls were finished, it would be nearly impossible to attach the canopy hardware later on due to the wall composition.

Beginning Construction of the TA Travel Center of America

Right away we got in contact with the project manager and let him know we needed to install our hardware before they finished their walls, or it would be a fortune more to do it later. We scheduled our first mobilization and headed on up to Ash Fork.

Right as we arrived at the jobsite, we started gearing up for the installation.

After all the canopy and tieback brackets were installed, we loaded up the truck and scheduled to finish the installation in a couple of months when the building is nearing complete.

As we are leaving the project manager came to us with some unfortunate news. There was an issue with the siding behind the canopies that caused massive delay. He let us know he would stay in contact and when we are good to finish this project.

Installation of Architectural Canopies

About a year goes by before we get the call telling us they’re ready to finish the installation. We scheduled the second part of the canopy installation right after that phone call.

Hauler carrying the canopies

We cruised up to Ash Fork to complete the installation and get some great pictures of the long unique canopy.

Shortly after arriving on the jobsite, we saw our hauler pulling in with canopies.

First, we installed the blue 8’ 8” canopy with custom face. Just the one canopy in the air made the building look more architectural already.

This canopy will do a great job protecting that door form the sun while making the building look more unique.

Installation of the corner frame section

We moved on to the 99’ x 30’ corner tieback supported canopy and started installing each frame section swiftly and with ease.

We were able to get every frame section up in a day and began the button up process. After installing each frame section, we installed our facias and baffles to conjoin each frame section.

Now all that was left was to flash and seal the architectural canopies to avoid any leaks. Both canopies on this project come with an integrated gutter system with scuppers at the front of the canopies to drain.

Now the canopy is fully sealed the project is complete. We have successfully provided shade for 3 restaurants with one Architectural Canopy. We brought the GC and Project manager over showing them our job was complete, and they could not have been happier how it turned out.
