Last year, we installed a column-supported drive-through canopy on a Walgreens in Gilbert, Arizona.
This canopy had a 15’ projection and was 10’ wide. The canopy attached to the building over the drive-through window and used 2 columns to support the 15’ projection.
Drive-Through canopies are the perfect solution for protecting customers and employees from the harsh summer sun or the cold rain. Providing a canopy over a drive through creates a welcoming environment. Adding a welcoming and protected environment for customers ensures they are attracted to what you are selling.
Drive-Through Canopy Features

This canopy used two 6″ x 6″ columns with baseplates, enclosed by a concrete collar to support the 15′ canopy.
This canopy has several features, including an integrated gutter system that directs water toward the front the canopy and drains it through downspouts.
The canopy will feature signage installed on both the top and the face to ensure the building and drive-through stand out.
The canopy features a Kynar finish which carries a 10-year warranty, one of the most durable finishes we have utilized. This canopy is fabricated from aluminum, reducing both installation and fabrication costs.

The canopy is pre-engineered to withstand exceptionally high wind loads. Taking into account the aluminum construction.
The lightweight modular design of the canopy enabled us to piece each part of the canopy together. The only equipment needed was a scissor lift because of the lightweight construction.
Installation Process
To begin the installation process, we started laying out and installing our wall brackets.

We installed the canopy hardware in and set the columns, we are now able to start piecing together the drive-thru canopy frame.
This drive-thru canopy pitched toward the front of the canopy where the water would run through a gutter system and drain through downspouts.
The downspouts ran down the columns and directly into a French Drain. This redirected the water away from the building potentially preventing serious damage overtime.
We then installed our decking that locked together and when fully pieced together has a corrugated style.
The modular design facilitated a straightforward and efficient installation process.

This project was one of the and most efficiently executed commercial projects in our scope in which we have participated in a long time.
The effective communication and pre-engineered design of the canopies reduced both time and costs for us and the customer. After the canopy was fully completed, the General Contractor was thrilled with the finished product and equally impressed with the canopy modular design.
